Never fear, join me in my Somerset Kitchen for a full day of learning the basics.  You will learn step by step how to create delicious jam.

Information about the day

We start the day at 10am with a welcome to Bumblee’s Kitchen, with coffee and a chance to meet up with your fellow Jammy beginners for the day.

Start by sharing our disaster stories, don’t worry we’ve all had them. Talk about what went wrong and how to know what will help to save you this in the future. We’ll talk about what makes Jam and the ingredients needed for the “set” of a jam & how to test for pectin levels.

Once we have talked through the Jam techniques, I’ll show you how to make a Raspberry Jam. You will then get to roll up your selves and make some yourself. Panic not, besides me being there for every step, this is probably the kindest jam for the beginner. Frankly it’s one of my favourite, sweet with a delicious tartness; well a Vickie sponge just wouldn’t be the same without it.

We’ll stop for a bite to eat around 12.30, something light to keep you going for more preserving in the afternoon.
After that we well return to the pans when I’ll show you how to make Strawberry Jam. Although this is often the jam that people struggle with, however we’ve got this. We will go through the techniques we learned in the morning and put that know how into making a delicious Jam you can take home your own to enjoy with your scones, along with recipes to make more at home, now you are an expert.
